seek-reveal-1

Seek Thermal’s new Reveal is a two in one device – a portable thermal imaging camera that allows you to see through the dark plus a powerful LED light source packed in a durable, rubberized package that fits in your pocket or toolbox. The Seek Reveal handheld imager combines powerful thermal imaging capabilities and a high-performance light in one portable and durable standalone device, unlike the other products of the company that do require to be used together with a smartphone. What you get is a 206×156 pixels Thermal Sensor capable of 36 degrees FOV with detectable temperature range of -40 degrees Celsius to 330 degrees Celsius along with a very bright 300 lumen LED light source packed in a rugged, rubberized casing. The device can be used in either of the two modes – as a thermal camera displaying the thermal images on a 240×320 pixels LCD display or as an alternative to a flashlight if you only need to have a strong light. The best of all is that the Seek Reveal is completely standalone device that does need a smartphone or anything else to be used and you can purchase one for $399 USD.

The new extra range model is created with outdoor enthusiasts in mind, allowing people to literally see heat, making it possible to spot people and animals in total darkness. For hunters, the Seek XR can be used in daylight, the dark, or in obscured visibility conditions. It’s useful for scouting, blood trailing, hunting game, and much more. The new Seek XR has a manual focus lens for viewing objects at close range, or at distances of up to 2,000 feet or around 610 meters.

Specification wise the next Seek Thermal XR is identical to the standard version of the thermal imaging accessory, the only difference being the lens used on the two models. The long range XR version comes with a manually adjustable focusing lens and a reduced field of view of 20 degrees as opposed to the fixed focus lens and the 36 degree FOV of the standard Seek Thermal version. According to the manufacturer the XR model is ideal for Hunters, Boaters, Campers, Electrical Engineers and anyone looking for increased home security can detect intruders from nearly up to about 2 thousand feet away. As with the original Seek Thermal accessory the new XR model is available in a version designed for iOS as well as for Android with a price of $299 USD as opposed the $50 USD cheaper standard model that is available for $249 USD.

The Seek thermal camera accessory for Apple iOS devices is now available for sale with a price of $199 USD as up until recently only the Android-based version of the device was up for sale. The Seek thermal Camera for iOS is designed and optimized to be used with an iPhone 5, 5c or 5S as well as iPhone 6 and 6 Plus or iPod Touch 5th Generation, but the device will also work with iPad Mini (all versions), iPad Air and iPad 4th Generation. Since the iOS version of the Seek thermal imaging camera is using the newer Lightning interface for connecting to the smartphone or tablet it will not be compatible with devices such as iPhone 4S or older as well as iPad and iPod touch models that use the old larger Apple connector. Also, apart from a compatible Apple iOS device with a Lightning interface you would also need to have it running iOS 7 or newer version of the operating system in order for it to work.

The specifications of the iOS version of the accessory are the same as the ones for the already available for a while Android version of the device, the price is also the same, so it is up to you to get the right model based on your smartphone type. The important thing is that the iOS version is now also available, but unfortunately just like with the Android version you can currently order and have the Seek thermal imager from the official website only to United States and Canada, no other countries are currently present in the shipping to list. Hopefully we are soon going to see the Seek Thermal camera accessory also available worldwide as the price for the device along with the very good specifications that it has, at least on paper, make it really an affordable and interesting solution for a lot of users around the world.
